Retractable modification

Unread post by boxee »

Retractable-
This modification can be applied to antenna or eye stalks.
Bio-E: 5 points per pair of antenna or eye stalks.
This modification allows the user to retract antenna or eye stalks back into host armor (or biotic). All that remains are slits that resemble closed eyes.

Forgive me if anyone else already thought this idea up already.

I think it is a good idea but 5 Bio E points seems high. I'd allow it for free since I don't feel it is a much of an advantage.

Well 5 points per pair seems fair to me. Normally they do not retract and can be attacked, if they are retractable it saves them in combat. It also has the added bonus of also being a cosmetic modification.

You are correct that eye stalks and antenna normally don't retract but they can lay flat which would reduce thier profile and increase the penalty to hit.

There are some mods that give an additional 30+ MDC for 5 bio-e points. Game balance is tricky :)

I agree game balance is hard to maintain, it is good to have someone to bounce ideas off of so thank you for responding!

It is a little more expensive as antenna and eye stalks can be up to three feet long.

Actually, I love the idea. 5 points doesn't sound too bad to me. It definitely has more of a usefulness than just a cosmetic alteration. Maybe split the difference and go with 3 points for the mod?

5 at least, more if it effects bigger items.

My suggestions;

1 Bio-E if it's cosmetic (faceplace segments retract or gauntlet segments retract to expose hand; think the briefcase armor in Iron Man 2). Short talons (3 inches max) & stalks/tentacles 1 foot or less fall into this slot.

2 if the part is slightly larger, such as a hand & forearm (to elbow) or leg & shin (up to bottom of knee). Medium talons (5 inches max) & stalks 2 feet at max length fit here.

5 if a major area, such as full chest/torso. Combat spurs/forearm blade(s) & stalks 3ft & more cost this much.

I figured the 5 points was reasonable and easy to figure when adding up points.

I can see the 5pt cost.
1pt for cosmetic.
3pt for retractable smaller things that can be Targeted.
5pt for Larger things, Heat Cannons, Large Blades, etc...

Greetings I actually prefer the idea of eye stalks moving around the head of the host armor as the gorgon medusa and when you want to retract them roll them in the neck, as the helmet of the packmaster and do not spend any bio-e, although the list of technogothic seems more than just
Many thanks and best regards
