P.P.E condenser

so thought of a techno-wizardry devic to take the low level p.p.e in a low p.p.e dimension /world . condense it in to a useable level , not sure about how they would tap into it . a crystal . ? ideas ,

Hmm... probably take something like the spell Energy Sphere, make it ley line powered, and then store the collected PPE in diamonds. Since we're talking a low PPE world, it'd be a very slow collection.

So, you start with a soda machine, that you fill with a yeast-based slurry. Into it, you incorporate a spell... I believe it is Life Bond? That lets you burn HP for PPE?

The algae takes some time to recover from you draining it of PPE. It comes out of the soda machine as kombucha.

(I'm getting some notes down because this forum keeps eating my posts)

Chi magic from the book Mystic China is perfect for this. I'll try to come up with a TW item that uses it. I'll include the level/P.P.E. costs to help when I get any numbers wrong. I don't think there are offical TW stones for Chi magic, so I'll go with jade and chicken-blood stone, with the latter costing more than jade outside China but potentially less within it.

Relevant Spells:
Conversion spells: Convert Chi to P.P.E.(1/1[or 6 Chi]), Convert P.P.E. to Chi(1/1)
These are basically self-explanatory. A person can't use this to store P.P.E. above their personal maximum within themselves.

Geomantic spells: Draw Confining Arc of Chi(2/4), Draw Alternate Line of Chi(6/15), Draw Spiral Line of Chi(8/25), Draw Wall of Chi(9/30)

Optional Storage spells: Replenish Vajra(3/5), Empower Vajra(5/10), Create Vajra(11/50+)
Vajra in Palladium are similar to Talismans, in that they can hold spells and P.P.E.. Vajra are better than Talismans in that they're cheaper to charge and create, can hold multiple spells at once, can hold spells and energy simultaneously, and can hold both Chi and P.P.E.. They're worse than Talismans in that they take longer to make, and require access to a specific school of magic and knowledge of three different spells. Also, TW items can cast the same spell repeatedly far more easily. They're just listed here as a superior battery.

Chi and TW don't officially interact in any setting, so the circumstances involved might be a bit contrived. A Chiang-Ku/True Atlantean team up is the easiest way to explain it, and working in the races Noro, Amaki, and Strata add some Psionic and Stone/Crystal Magic options. I don't believe there's a good perpetual motion machine yet possible, since there aren't great ways to exchange things for I.S.P. other than 4-d Transformation and high level Ba Gua.

<punctuation and grammar fixed>To what end? What benefit would you gain from "Condensing" PPE? You'll still recover your PPE at the same rate, 5 PPE per hour of rest on Rifts as on Palladium. What causes you/your spells/your psionics to be SDC or MDC is the environment itself, not the PPE you're controlling. This is why you instantly go from SDC to MDC upon stepping though the portal from Palladium to Rifts Earth. There is no transition time, no need to expend your existing PPE before soaking in the high-density stuff from the new environment. So what would the purpose of this device be? Why would anyone want to use it?

I'm not saying this to be a jerk. When making a TW Device, it's often most helpful to determine what effect you want from the device, and work backwards from there in terms of spell selection, gems/crystals, and the form the device takes.

May The Force be with you always.

I'd guess that he is thinking of places like Seeron from Skraypers, where the energy is so low that normally you can't draw any supplemental PPE from the ley lines on the planet.

It looks like at least two posts were removed. Is there a problem with the forum, or one with the content of the posts?

Greetings and Salutations. I think this is a result of the new website (and new forums). When the new site launched there were two forums, with the same threads and posts. But any posts that happened AFTER that only posted on the one site (so you could respond to the same post, but it would only show in one location). Looks like Palladium fixed the problem (I can no longer get to the other forums), but looks like any new posts there have been lost. I don't think this will be an issue in the future, but some posts (those on the other site) from the last week may be lost. Hope that helps address your concerns. Farewell and safe journeys.
Living the Fantasy (fan website)

Official PDF versions of Rifter #45, #52, and #55 can be found at DriveThruRPG.

Changeover of the overall system and migration of the old posts to the new site. The most recent mosts got deleted, though it seems rather haphazardly. So, if you lost anything good that you posted, repost it to bring it back up to date.

It appears that when the forums were moved to the new web address, a day or two of posts were lost.

It's cool, I was just concerned that my last post contained enough specific info as to warrant deletion.

The shorter version of before: a TW Chi Wristwatch is a level 1 device using two 1 PPE spells (Blinding Flash/Convert Chi to PPE) in order to convert Chi to PPE at 6:1. The watch can be used by anyone able to use TW devices when strapped around a Vajra of at least two tines which have been set to accumulate 1 Chi/round. Otherwise the watch needs a manipulator of Chi. This means either being a N&SS/MC class, using the Rules in the Rifts Conversion Book for Major/Master Psionics, or using Wayne Smith's rule in Rifter 3 for learning martial arts.

Using Geomancy magic can increase the amount of PPE available by converted Chi from 1 every 6 rounds to 20 every round or more, provided there are enough Vajra around to store it. A Chi Wristwatch Pro might involve the spells Replenish Vajra, Energy Field, and Draw Confinining Arc of Chi, and the Wristwatch Ultra adding/subbing Energy Sphere, Draw Spiral Line of Chi, and Draw Wall of Chi.

Basically you are looking at something like a TW version of a Stone Pyramid? All you really need is a Stone Pyramid to store the PPE and then a TW device to siphon it off.

While reviewing Phase World books this week I noticed that UWW already have a PPE generator for their space ships. No creation stats given.

An alternative would be to have a PPE humidifier that amps up the ambient PPE levels (which is what I think you are really looking for).

Well, since Pyramids tend to weigh millions of tons, are hundreds of feet tall are rooted in one place and generally take teams of expert stone masters commanding thousands of laborers years to built they don't seem to be a good option for most people.

The UWW device might be helpful, or it might not. Depending again on the size and components. If the devise is the size of two story house, requires two greater elementals be trapped inside it, and costs 50,000,000cr for a team of hundreds specialists to build over three years at factory yards equipped with the proper tools and equipment...then it isn't going to be much help either.
The rules are not a bludgeon with which to hammer a character into a game. They are a guide to how a group of friends can get together to weave a collective story that entertains everyone involved. We forget that at our peril.
