Tell me what do you think of Spies in the Pulp and Worldwar2 era?

You can make a Crimson skies like North America, where the U.S has balkanized into a number of smaller sovereignties.
Each have Strength and weakness, ther a balance of Power, each are looking for a Edge over the others.

Tell me your ideas.

Actually, I'm in the middle of the book "Greenmantle" by John Buchan. This is the same author as the book The Thirty-Nine Steps (a GREAT Hitchcock film, by the way). Not so sure there're any ideas in there for you, but it will still be a GREAT read.
"The impossibility of the world lies in the fact that it has no equivalent anywhere;it cannot be exchanged for anything. The uncertainty of thought lies in the fact that it cannot be exchanged either for truth or for reality. Is it thought which tips the world over into uncertainty, or the other way around? This in itself is part of the uncertainty." - J. Baudrillard
