Every teenager eventually turns 30, some just do it with better greener skin. This month Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series celebrates three decades of comics — comics which of course served as a springboard for almost as many years of cartoons, video games, toys, movies and more. Whether fans have been along for the ride the entire third-of-a-century or are relatively new to the green machines, Insight Editions’ upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Ultimate Visual History aims to provide readers with a potent picture of the TMNT’s history.

Written by Andrew Farago, the Curator and Gallery Manager of San Francisco’s Cartoon Art Museum (itself currently home to a TMNT retrospective exhibit) and featuring a foreword by Laird, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Ultimate Visual History clocks in at 192 pages. Though the hardcover will contain tons of art plus the “rarest art and artifacts” from TMNT’s numerous incarnations in comics and multimedia, the TMNT: Ultimate Visual History will also include interviews with “every key figure in the Turtles’ evolution,” including Eastman and Laird, Fred Wolf, Brian Henson, and Vanilla “Ninja Rap” Ice. From the first issue of the TMNT comic that arrive on May 5, 1984 to the present day — and even beyond as it will cover the live action TMNT movie opening on August 8 — the book seems like it will have something for everyone.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Ultimate Visual History is available for preorder on Amazon, and will arrive in brick-and-mortar stores on June 24. You can get your first look inside, below.
