Just a new role, Z. My main has become somewhat of a gloom cookie of late, so I need humor. Trying to see what trouble I can stir up/help stir up with her. And thanks. I like her too. NPC turned PC basically.

Also, it may be all of the Justice League I've been watching lately, but that character seems awesome to me.

Been awhile since I first posted Darcy's character in this thread. In that time she's had plenty of adventures so I think it's time to update her character profile a bit.

Nemesis

Darcy has never had what you would call a normal life. She was born in Ireland to parents who were both members of the IRA. Unfortunately her father, a man named Riley was an assassin and part of a radical faction that didn't want to pursue their agenda through negotiation and politics as was becoming the norm at the time. Having such a man associated with the organization was proving to be embarrassing and troublesome.

A team of problem solvers were sent to deal with the problem. Riley was out when they arrived. So they killed his young wife instead. Returning before they got to his daughter, Riley avenged his wife by slaughtering the entire team. Nevertheless, he had received the message the IRA was sending him and left the country with his little baby.

Riley decided that there was opportunity to be had in the United States so he moved to New York. He didn't have a lot of skills outside of killing so it was hard to make ends meet once his savings started to run out. Eventually he made contacts with an organized crime family who offered him a job using his unique talents. In the past he had always killed because he believed in a cause. Now he did it so that he could provide a comfortable life for his daughter.

The two moved around quite a bit, though most of their time was spent in New York, Chicago and Boston. Despite this moving around, Riley made sure that Darcy got a good education, enrolling her in a number of different Catholic schools. Where she really excelled was in physical activities though her father wouldn't let her compete professionally for fear it would draw unwanted attention.

Unfortunately Riley was unprepared to raise a daughter by himself. While he initially attempted to keep his daughter ignorant of what he did for a living, she found out at a relatively young age. Once Darcy knew what he did, she wanted to be part of the 'family business'. After over a year of being hounded by his young daughter, Riley finally gave in and took her on as an apprentice.

By the time Darcy was in her teens, she was going along with her father on jobs, assisting in a variety of roles from spotter to look out to get away driver. Darcy had a natural aptitude for the skills her father was passing on to her and together they made an excellent team.

Despite letting her come along on missions and teaching her marksmanship and everything else he knew, Riley never let Darcy be the trigger in any job. He reasoned that if they were ever caught, he would take the heat as a bad parent, and Darcy would probably get off without having to gain an adult criminal record. In fact he made it clear to her that if she were ever caught she was to plea bargain by testifying against him. A condition she reluctantly agreed to.

After Darcy turned eighteen however, Riley decided that he had enough money squirrelled away and it was time to get out of the family business. He informed his handlers of his intentions and made it clear that if they came after him or his daughter then he would make sure the authorities were given evidence in various cases that would be quite harmful to the crime bosses he was working for. He agreed to do one more job and then go into hiding.

Darcy was out when the men came for her father. What she found was an apartment full of blood and her fathers corpse. She also found that the advance money for the job he had taken and they had been preparing for had been paid. So for the first time, she went and pulled the trigger herself. She also began a campaign of vengeance against the men that had killed or were responsible for the death of her father.

That is how Darcy started life as a freelance killer for hire. She made a name for herself under the title of Nemesis, an identity most assumed to be male. Ironic since she choose that name because it was that of the Roman goddess of vengeance.

It was during one of these early adventures as a criminal assassin that she used her feminine attributes to get close to a mark. She successfully carried out the mission but later learned she had become pregnant. Horrified both at carrying the child of a man she had murdered and at the thought of bringing a child into the life she was living, she had the child aborted. She also found an unscrupulous doctor willing to remove her ovaries so that it would never happen again. This has resulted in her needing to take hormonal therapy ever since. She has responded positively to these treatments.

Recently, Darcy has come to greatly regret the above decision and is seeking ways to undo the damage she has done herself, including possible supernatural solutions.

Then one day she was contracted to assassinate the mistress of a senator. A contract that proved much more difficult to carry out than most. Furthermore, there was an odd condition to the contract that she post the results of the job on a site called the Lazlo Society. It was there that she learned about a larger, stranger and darker world that contained the horrors of the supernatural.

Since joining the small online community, Darcy has sworn off her past as a man hunter and now focuses on hunting and killing supernatural creatures or what she deems to be corrupted individuals who willingly interact with evil supernatural influences. The friendships she has made have helped temper her worse impulses and allowed her develop a rough code of ethics.

Also over the course of her time with the Lazlo Society, she has learned a few things about her own family history and how it relates to the supernatural. During a conflict that involved zombies, other supernatural investigators, a werewolf and a vampire lord, Darcy learned that one of her distant relatives, a chieftain named Cathan, once fought and entombed the very vampire lord she was now fighting. Unfortunately, her lack of knowledge about how to properly destroy a vampire allowed Abhartach to survive.

Darcy has also learned that one of her even more distant relatives married a fey bride and that all the descendents of that line have been heroes who have fought against the supernatural. A trend that had fallen to the wayside until she herself started hunting monsters again.

Finally, Darcy has learned that her father's ghost is restless and wants to be avenged for both his and his wife's death. A task she has been slowly and quietly working towards.

Darcy has been offered a place in an organized crime family. So far they have been patient in waiting for her reply but it is only a matter of time before they start becoming more insistent.

Common tactics:

When in a good sniper position, Darcy will tend to take the time for called aimed shots. She favors head shots, especially against people and creatures for whom the head is an essential part of the anatomy. Her favored calibre is the .338 Lapua Magnum though for extremely tough supernatural creatures she has a 20mm anti-material rifle.

In mid range combat Darcy is likely to use either a M-4 carbine modified for 6.5mm ammo or 10mm HK MP10. The heavier calibres are for dealing with more resilient supernatural opponents or armored human opponents. Of the two weapons above, she is more likely to choose the M-4 as it can also be used for carefully aimed shots. The MP10 is for situations where she must conceal a smaller weapon. She might also use a .45 sub-machine gun in certain situations. While competent in their use, she disdains the use of shotguns for their lack of accuracy.

In close combat Darcy uses either a pair of 9mm Glock pistols or a single 10mm Glock pistol. She doesn't try to use the two 9mm's as 'paired weapons'. Instead she will shoot one until it runs out of ammo and then switch to the other rather than reload. Both of those pistols have both semi and fully automatic capabilities. Against tougher opponents, she uses her 10mm as it packs more punch per hit. The 10mm is semi automatic only and she tends to be more careful in aiming it as it's usually more important to be accurate when it is being used.

In melee combat Darcy prefers to use a pair of knives, relying on her automatic dodge for defense. This means she can launch up to 14 attacks in a single melee (almost one cut per second), all with a +11 to strike. The term flayed alive comes to mind.

Even when completely unarmed, Darcy is capable of using every part of her body as weapon. Due to this and the fact that many supernatural creatures are vulnerable to silver, she will often have silver studs built into her outfit on her knuckles, feet, knees and elbows.
