Lovecraft took a lot of ideas from Theosophy and Theosophical ideas have permeated the fantasy/sci-fi/etc landscape because of it. I mentioned this before in regards to the influence of these Theosophical ideas on Palladium via Lovecraft, but I'm bringing it up again because I found a great blog article that gives a pretty solid argument on the full extent of how much Lovecraft took core cthulhu-mythos concepts from Theosophy.

Re: Lovecraft, Theosophy, and Palladium
Lovecraft? Theosophy? Slow down there bro, I like my racism in Palladium to be limited to cheesy stereotypes, eurocentrism, and a complete blindness to privilege. We don't need to go kicking it up a notch by adding Lovecraft or Blavatsky's stuff
