Rifts Megaverse in Flames has gone to press !

Unread post by AlexM »

We all know Deevils and demons are bad but this book is, as Matthew Clements put it, "Consistently horrific." Both armies are creating things that go beyond the close combat they're used to, to take the prize: Rifts Earth. Every Champion of Light is going up against the monstrous evil of Soulmancy and other things that present the evil being carried out and created by both sides in the conflict, and there are a lot of surprises. The Hell Lords, for one. Due to their nature, each one wants to win, wants to be the ruler of Rifts Earth. This isn't just a book about demonic weapons and combat, but a look inside the minds of the most evil beings you'll encounter. If you've read Hades and Dyval, this book takes things to the next level of evil. Adventure ideas abound.

Agreed! The turnaround time on MiF seems like it was relatively quick, too. So for this year's Gen Con, Palladium will have the two NG books, MiF, the Chuck Walton Art Book, four more Rifters, and RRT as new product since the last Gen Con.

I'm Guessing Graveyard Earth is up next in the hopper, based on the latest weekly update. Of course, I imagine that Gen Con prep is the major priority for now.

Yeah, that was turned around pretty quickly - probably says something about the quality of Carl's script :ok:

I do believe it is Graveyard Earth and the Robotech Marines book up next.

Well there have been rumblings about a heros of humanity book which takes place after the minion wars. I would tend to think though that there may be a splicers book or two before that though as they have been doing some rumblings of those as well and maybe a rerelease of splicers with a new cover.

I think it is also a bit of a case where they likely were forcing themselves to be a bit more strict in keeping with their targeted page counts and not just constantly rewriting and expanding it. It probably also helps that the robotech thing is pretty quickly entering the nothing more for them to do but ship it phase of development which cuts the number of distractions down pretty significantly.

I'm torn, on one hand I'm happy to have a new book so soon, but on the other hand I was hoping for this later in the year so I could hold off to have something to justify ordering the Grab bag. But regardless still good to hear. :)

If one reads the stories in the Rifter, the CS is a known target that the Demons (Or Devils) are directly targeting.

Im not expecting the CS to be wiped out. If its another SOT where they got at most a bruise then I will be disappointed. The Cs should not get plot armor nor script immunity simply by being popular with the fans imo.

Well remember the name of the future book.

Coalition States: Saviors of Humanity.

So I don't think they're going anywhere. They may get beat up, but don't expect them to 'lose'.

I just keep thinking that all of those sleeping NEMA soldiers in ARCHIES base are going to have something to do in this book.

As for the "Saviors of Humanity" title, as the CS is largely based on the Nazis I am hoping the title is either ironic or just how they see themselves.

That's my point. In SOT they barerly got a scratch from Tolkien. Compared to what was done to Tolkien it was simply not the same. I'm not expecting the to fall. I do want them too lose some territory or take some damage.

The Galactus Kid wrote:Yeah, who do they think they are? Space Marines?

 no.

I do want to see the Coalition get into a real fight and suffer some decent losses. No way they have enough army, weapons and manpower to defend every corner of the CS imo.

I do think the sleeping Nema soldiers should be involved. The main problem is Archie. I also dont want to see another General Holmes through the Xitcix badlands scenario either.

I'm looking forward to this book. Most of the Minion Wars books have been good so far. The only one I was "meh" about was the Phaseworld one. Carl Gleba's work otherwise has been quite good.

Being 100% honest, I've been Meh about the entire run up till this one. I didn't like them too much. Most were build ups for this book. Which is fine had they come out pretty rapid fire, but the build up has been going for years and years.

So with this one I'm hoping that the others come into focus. As this has been what all the others were aiming for.

I'm willing to give it a chance. I hope it's good.

The dyvaal and hades books were good for what they are. Dimension books of two of the most known infernal realms. Nice for background and stuff to use for GMs for rift hopping campaigns. Of all of them I have liked the dimensional outbreak the best and mainly used it for the non minion war info about center.

See, as a military historian and history teacher I LOVE the General Holmes thing, but I agree with you that twice in a row would be pushing it.

This does make me think that the Saviors of Humanity book might be a change in the CS with NEMA, the Republicans or both.

Just for the record I have been running Phase World since it first came out and I Love Dimensional Outbreak. As far as I am concerned it is the single best thing to happen to Phase World, allowing the GM to really remake the dimension as it were and make it less Star Trek and more mysterious and dangerous.
