I'm only new to playing the game, kids. I've only been helping to design the look for nearly a decade.

There sure are. Both Brandon and I need to to discuss more about how and if we're re-releasing them.

First session begins. We're just a group, traveling along much like the crew of Serenity...but in Ohio...we see some smoke off of the road. We decide to check it out. We find the wreckage and remains of a group that was familiar to us. I get out of our "Tour Bus™" and look around. We find a corpse of a buffalo-rhino, but nothing else, so we start to salvage what we can from the wrecks. That's when we were attacked by a couple more buffalo-rhinos. I managed to take them both down. We are now at a traveling freak show, and that's where we shall pick up next week.

Sounds like a good start to a good story. I figured you'd all end up in a bar somewhere first. LOL. That's how most stories with beginner players start it seems. It's tradition.

Again, neither Amy or I can be considered beginning players since we're both very familiar with Rifts and gaming.

This sounds awfully familiar...but in our game they were rhino-buffaloes, so probably totally different.

It's a great place to start and a really good adventure. After this adventure, we're totally going off the rails.

Tonight's sessions began where we left off: at the freak show. Amy's operator and I are charged with finding a fence for all the loot we had acquired with the buffa-rhino encounter. Amy's doing most off the snooping because I'm fascinated by the exhibits. We find a guy, we negotiate a price, walk out of the tent when suddenly we're confronted by several....and three transformers blew in front of Brandon's house and Amy and I were suddenly alone in our chat window. We talked for about 45 minutes about our normal art crap and gave up on the game.

How did they do it? I mean, I guess per movie canon they can theoretically create any 'parts' they want, but does that metal have the sensations necessary for it to be worth the time?

Re: An End of an Era

Tonight's session picked up right where we left off when Brandon's "power failure" (so-called) interrupted the game. With about 400 feet and a couple robots between us and our Tour Bus™ that held or weapons and my armor, we had to try to make our way there. The robots said something about "too many witnesses" and started killing the Freak Show Customers. Amy's Operator decided to rig a generator to explode and take a wide rout back to the Tour Bus™. I decided to take the direct route through the robots and to the Tour Bus™. When Amy beat me the van I was somewhat confused and called GM ginger shenanigans...) Then we had our first player fatality. Our Crazy in a jet pack screamed something about covering fire and flew over the robots and was promptly shot down. I managed to make it to my armor, went out and discovered I was only rolling half damage on my boom gun because I wrote that stat down wrong. But we destroyed the robots. Then comes a conversation from the crazed ancient robot from earlier. He was spouting some garbage about an ancient evil and treasure...

I'm kinda jealous of that death, really. I've had players die epically. But then the GM will come up to me and say we'll rez him next session. And I'd be like "No way! That death was perfect!" Why waste a good ending for a good character?

Granted the crazy got all of 20 minutes of life since that player wasn't able to make the previous sessions, but he damn sure will be remembered.

Damn right he did. That was amazing. Beats my character losing a leg in our Dead Reign campaign way back when. And I have never witnessed a character die in their first play session.

I was once involved with a TPK in our first session. It was quite impressive.

So crazy machine man leads us to our "treasure." Problem is we have to take out somebody first.....a giant brain in the middle of a computer complex surrounded by robots. So I shoot the brain and all hell breaks loose. There are robots streaming into the complex and onto us and it seems to be a hopeless fight...until I kill the brain. Then all the 'bots stop for a moment. We find our way down corridor, our Machine Man is squeelling with delight. We're led to what I can only assume is a Rift and through. And that's where we left off.

You forgot the town of Finton where you waited in the tour bus.

Yeah, but largely nothing happened there and it was just a distraction.

All kinds of stuff happened. Actually the party got most of the experience for the session from that encounter. I almost had Knox's character arrested (or worse) for effectively attacking the protector of the town, even though he thought that was a non-threatening action. You just don't go around Magic Netting stuff.

Yeah. The loss of the Tour Bus™ so early was a travesty we will be hard pressed to forget. Unless it somehow travelled through the Rift with us like the beginning of Army of Darkness...

It did not, but an enterprising group of scavengers should be able to get something before too long.
