Kinda think that the shipping of the Fantasy is likely the big news.

I'm not usually happy to see my card charged for things and money leave my account, but for a Palladium Fantasy Special Edition, I will gladly make an exception. :)

As pleased as I am to have purchased the Palladium Fantasy 30th Anniversary Hardcover, and as excited as i am to get it the real prize for me will be Megaverse in Flames. I have eluded to a Magaversal conflict since Feb 22 2014 (Ragnarok) and I am really hoping for some EPIC High Level Kissassery.

My hope is more new books to be released. What I mean by new is not something along the lines of a old book with new cover art. Nor a manuscript getting pushed ahead of schedule because the writer really wants to write the book like Rifts Antartica.
If it's stupid and it works. It's not stupid

Palladium can't be given a free pass for criticism because people have a lot of emotion invested in it.

I would love to see some of these books get knocked out to see what is beyond them in the production queue.

Surprise is that 30th Anniversary Fantasy is shipping. Northern Gun 2 should go to the printer next week. He also says manufacturing of RRT should begin soon.

I never really thought it would be smaller than NG-1. When you consider how much more they are trying to fit in and like 30 PA on top of that.

I wonder how my local store is gonna feel about the price increase. I already paid for the book when I payed for my preorder of Northern Gun 1 there. They even gave me an extra deal on it cause they overcharged me for a previous book. I got both NG books at way lower than the listed prices back then. Now I wonder if they are gonna want a few bucks more when they realize they aren't making any money on it. Least not the one copy I got. They don't stock it and as far as I know I am the only one who visits that store that buys anything Palladium.

And that it almost went up to 270 pages which would have been pretty amazingly huge. Well clearly there is a lot O stuff TM going into NG2 still glad I wound up preordering a softcover to go along with the insider cause at this point its going to be hard enough to wait till it is shipped let alone waiting another 3-5 weeks for the hard cover one.

Palladium has easily over 500+ pages of material from me and last I checked was still sitting in limbo awaiting review. I'd do a happy little Irish jig if someone had found the time to actually look at it and liked what they saw. Although, I'd be almost as happy for Northern Gun II. ;)

Fingers crossed!

Might I ask why?

I just read the update, man 90 pages of PA seems like total overkill to me, especially with the ones already released in NG1.

I just hope with all of these revisions and additions they didn't bump out the cargo hauling vehicles and stuff like that for even more PA.

There were no power armor released in NG-1 those were robot vehicles. But ya it looks like they went a bit wild with power armor but I am sure I will enjoy it once its out its just that the wait is a bit long. I hope we get the firm gone to the printers this week that way we know its about 3 weeks till the soft cover is in our grubby paws.

NG1 didn't have any power armor. NG1 had Robots.

NG2 has power armor (Among other things, EBA, Vehicles, drones, robotics)

As to 'why'. Northern Gun is the largest and best known weapons, bots and PA manufacturers in North America. Remember, the CS and such are all technically "Military/National forces" if you're driving it or using it and you're not CS and the CS catch/see you, you're in deep poodoo. NG is known all over NA and beyond for being weapons/bots/PA/Vehicle manufacturers (and other stuff too).

People have been begging for books on NG from the start. -Literal decades-. To produce books on the largest producers of guns and gear, with out tons of guns and gear would be folly.

As for bumping stuff, Kevin's most recent murmer has stated that the book is up to 256 pages, of which they're cramming 300 or so pages worth of information into. (Smaller font, smaller pics, etc). So 90 pages is alot of power armor, but we're getting 256 pages total so.. plenty of room for other stuff.

Chances are, with this one being this big, we're not going to get anything else on NG for years, if ever. So... getting tons now is good, vs a bit now and never again. lol. I'd also prefer a huge NG2 vs a smaller NG2 and "NG3, SOON!!!" which might be 1 year, 2 years.. 5 years, or never. Remember Rifts: Australia?

At this point the book is so late, I'm all for "Cram more in there!! Jump it to 300 pages if you need to!". At this point a few extra weeks isn't going to matter that much to me, so I'd much much rather wait a few more weeks and get a HUGE book, than wait this long and them cut stuff.

Greetings and Salutations. On the topic of 90 pages ... Just for some clarification, the "90 pages of power armor" might very well be 90 manuscript pages. For the difference we can look at the April 14th Murmur: "The end result is a book that is the equivalent of 300 pages squeezed into 256 pages. That’s 600 manuscript pages ..."

So if it's 90 manuscript pages, that's only 45 pages of the book, and since they're squeezing it in, quite possibly under 40 pages.

Also from the April 14 Murmur: "That’s how we ended up with 32 flippin’ power armors, new hovercycles, new Ride Armor, other cool body armor, robots and vehicles."

About 40 pages sounds about right (to me) for 32 power armors, but Rifts isn't really my setting so maybe I'm way underestimating how much room power armor stats take up. They also mention other types of vehicles still included (but nothing too specific). Doesn't sound like they're cutting stuff out so much as cramming more stuff in.

Anyways, just wanted to throw that out there. Thank you for your time and patience, please have a nice day. Farewell and safe journeys for now.

copy/paste from weekly update (highlight by me)

More than 80 pages are dedicated to NG power armor, plus there are section on hovercycles, body armor, robot drones, amphibious vehicles, combat vehicles, ground vehicles, and other gear, plus gladiators of the Robodome and more. Including some hints about things to come and NG’s relationship with the Coalition States.

IMO the more on things to come the better and I hope in NG2 they haven't forgotten the other power in North America, whose back yard and ties with NG the CS is encroaching on - Lazlo

Lazlo and NG's relationship was already mentioned in NG1.

Short version. They still deal with Lazlo as much as they used to, they just do it through back channels now to 'appease' the CS. A sort of Don't ask don't tell thing. The CS isn't stupid. They know NG makes money off arms sales and knows Lazlo buys, but NG sends the shipments all secret like and on the down low and make their money through "one step away" secondary sellers or the like. Everyone's happy.

NG and Lazlo currently don't have any real beef NG made a show of shutting down their shipments to them but immediately started letting a whole lot of stuff fall off trucks.

The big question will be with the minion war/xiticix NG may not have much choice than to get a lot more cosy than they would like with the CS for very valid reasons of them being on the front line between two pretty inimicable forces. The "official" short story sneak peak from a couple rifters back points to the demons knowing CS is the main threat and looking to attack them full force. The problem for the NG is they are pretty much directly in the way of that happening.

I don't think the NG will officially join the cs but depending how ugly things get they could be forced to become pretty close allies with the CS and really other than the CS being a bit overboard anti DBee the NG really does not have a lot of beefs with the CS view points.

@kaid and PJ - my mistake Robots, same difference.

I know the point of the NG books (being a major distributor) and on the whole the books make sense, but it still seems like over kill. I know that not everyone is willing to take the risk of driving stolen CS equipment, but there are still plenty of other PA in other books.

I know it just might be my playing style but in all my years of playing Rifts I have never used a robot once and I've only used Power Armour twice.

I still think 80-90 pages (or 45 or whatever it is) is overkill for Power Armour, I think half of that would suffice and still not need an NG3.

Maybe I'm just biased because I don't use them and would prefer some more options for group vehicles that just aren't APCs without weapons on them instead.

Yes I remember Rifts:Australia, sure it would be good with more content but I think the book was fine on it's own as well.

Well, keep in mind how much repeated info there might be in there.

Reminding people that a reinforced pilots compartment (purely as an example) does X, Y and Z really eats up the space when it's repeated 20-40 odd times. :-P

I disagree. If you're writing a source book on say... Ford... You put in Cars, you put in SUVs, you put in Trucks, you put in Hybrids. etc. You put in the entire line and all the variants.

You don't take decades to write a book on Ford and then go "Well all they want are the top sellers. So one car, one truck, one SUV and one hybrid.. I mean.. why put in the other 30 cars?"

You put them all in because the book is dedicated to Ford.

If you're writing a source book on Pizza hut, you put in all the different kinds of Pizza. You don't just put in Pepperoni and call it done because that's what many people are used to and want.

Just having the extra options doesn't mean they're going to be used. I for one have never eaten an anchovy pizza. I've no want to. It doesn't bother me being on the menu. Some people like it. Having worked at both Pizza hut and at Little Ceasers, I can tell you, some people order it. Not MANY but some. had one guy when I worked at Pizza hut who would order triple anchovies pizza, and have us make it and told us 'Don't throw it out. I'm coming. I might be late" and he'd show up 3 or 4 hours later. He liked -cold- triple anchovies pizza. I asked one time why it took him so long to come and he told me he liked it cold. So the next time he ordered I said "Hey man. I can stick this in the fridge for you and you could come get it in like 30 or 45, instead of 3 or 4 hours" he was SOO happy. tipped me a $20, and all I did was stick it in the fridge. After that, we just stuck his pizza in the fridge for him.

"Great story bro" right? well the point is that he wanted that really weird pizza that you or I wouldn't eat even if we were paid. it was an option though and made that guy really happy. Having 90 pages of Power armor might not be needed for you, but it might give 89 other people the power armor that they LOVE!

And.. well.... not for nothing, but if you've only ever used one robot, and two power armors ever in rifts... these books likely aren't written for you. So catering to your wants would be pretty silly.

It'd be like me demanding that books on magic only have 4 spells instead of 400, because I don't play Mages (for the most part) and the other 396 spells are just waste and overkill for me.

Well the magic book isn't written for the guy that doesn't play mages. It's written for the 100s and 100s that DO.

Prior to NG1 I think the only times we used robot vehicles was in some german camaigns because they have some stuff like the dragon fly that are both really incredible power wise and can do stuff no power armor can come close to doing or when one was "acquired" in the field.

In general the boosts to robot vehicles over power armor is multiple people manning all the systems. In small parties I typically are in with 4-5 players you typically don't have a lot of people who just want to play gunners in a lot of fights and in groups that small power armor makes more sense.

Since NG1 some of the new robot vehicles are getting more play like the bulldog/okemos. Durable enough mechs for some combat duty but in general more of party vehicle/mobile base. Something like the okemos/bulldog also makes a great salvage vehicle where they can lift heavy weights/tow a lot and allows you to help lug a lot of useful stuff back for sale.

I've been a member of this board for a LONG time. I've seen a lot of posts from a lot of posters. I can say with authority that THIS is the best post Pepsi Jedi has ever made. Well done, sir.

maybe you should have quoted it correctly if you liked it so much. Was it Razz or PJ you are proud of?

I still think I would have preferred a Merctown/MercOps set up all things being equal. Do the setting book since we already have several toys by NG out there etc THEN a separate book for all the toys. Instead we have the setting info split between two books.

I digress though as I will end up with both regardless.

Edit - Mind you I play everything so everything appeals to me being magic, psionics or tech....

We had to drop the Robot Rabbits from NG-2 to squeeze in all the other material.

How about putting them into a rifter? Do they poop grenades?
