I'm not usually happy to see my card charged for things and money leave my account, but for a Palladium Fantasy Special Edition, I will gladly make an exception.

Also that NG2 is larget than originally expected. 256 pages rather than 160.

Good grief, NG2 is HUGE.
I can't wait for my PFRPG 30th!
Edit: Reserving my Open House room after work!

I just read the update, man 90 pages of PA seems like total overkill to me, especially with the ones already released in NG1.
I just hope with all of these revisions and additions they didn't bump out the cargo hauling vehicles and stuff like that for even more PA.

Pepsi Jedi wrote:NG1 didn't have any power armor. NG1 had Robots.
NG2 has power armor (Among other things, EBA, Vehicles, drones, robotics)
As to 'why'. Northern Gun is the largest and best known weapons, bots and PA manufacturers in North America. Remember, the CS and such are all technically "Military/National forces" if you're driving it or using it and you're not CS and the CS catch/see you, you're in deep poodoo. NG is known all over NA and beyond for being weapons/bots/PA/Vehicle manufacturers (and other stuff too).
People have been begging for books on NG from the start. -Literal decades-. To produce books on the largest producers of guns and gear, with out tons of guns and gear would be folly.
As for bumping stuff, Kevin's most recent murmer has stated that the book is up to 256 pages, of which they're cramming 300 or so pages worth of information into. (Smaller font, smaller pics, etc). So 90 pages is alot of power armor, but we're getting 256 pages total so.. plenty of room for other stuff.
Chances are, with this one being this big, we're not going to get anything else on NG for years, if ever. So... getting tons now is good, vs a bit now and never again. lol. I'd also prefer a huge NG2 vs a smaller NG2 and "NG3, SOON!!!" which might be 1 year, 2 years.. 5 years, or never. Remember Rifts: Australia?
At this point the book is so late, I'm all for "Cram more in there!! Jump it to 300 pages if you need to!". At this point a few extra weeks isn't going to matter that much to me, so I'd much much rather wait a few more weeks and get a HUGE book, than wait this long and them cut stuff.
Prysus wrote:Greetings and Salutations. On the topic of 90 pages ... Just for some clarification, the "90 pages of power armor" might very well be 90 manuscript pages. For the difference we can look at the April 14th Murmur: "The end result is a book that is the equivalent of 300 pages squeezed into 256 pages. That’s 600 manuscript pages ..."
So if it's 90 manuscript pages, that's only 45 pages of the book, and since they're squeezing it in, quite possibly under 40 pages.
Also from the April 14 Murmur: "That’s how we ended up with 32 flippin’ power armors, new hovercycles, new Ride Armor, other cool body armor, robots and vehicles."
About 40 pages sounds about right (to me) for 32 power armors, but Rifts isn't really my setting so maybe I'm way underestimating how much room power armor stats take up. They also mention other types of vehicles still included (but nothing too specific). Doesn't sound like they're cutting stuff out so much as cramming more stuff in.
Anyways, just wanted to throw that out there. Thank you for your time and patience, please have a nice day. Farewell and safe journeys for now.
More than 80 pages are dedicated to NG power armor, plus there are section on hovercycles, body armor, robot drones, amphibious vehicles, combat vehicles, ground vehicles, and other gear, plus gladiators of the Robodome and more. Including some hints about things to come and NG’s relationship with the Coalition States.
Razzinold wrote:@kaid and PJ - my mistake Robots, same difference.
I know the point of the NG books (being a major distributor) and on the whole the books make sense, but it still seems like over kill. I know that not everyone is willing to take the risk of driving stolen CS equipment, but there are still plenty of other PA in other books.
I know it just might be my playing style but in all my years of playing Rifts I have never used a robot once and I've only used Power Armour twice.
I still think 80-90 pages (or 45 or whatever it is) is overkill for Power Armour, I think half of that would suffice and still not need an NG3.
Maybe I'm just biased because I don't use them and would prefer some more options for group vehicles that just aren't APCs without weapons on them instead.
Yes I remember Rifts:Australia, sure it would be good with more content but I think the book was fine on it's own as well.

Pepsi Jedi wrote:Just having the extra options doesn't mean they're going to be used. I for one have never eaten an anchovy pizza. I've no want to. It doesn't bother me being on the menu. Some people like it. Having worked at both Pizza hut and at Little Ceasers, I can tell you, some people order it. Not MANY but some. had one guy when I worked at Pizza hut who would order triple anchovies pizza, and have us make it and told us 'Don't throw it out. I'm coming. I might be late" and he'd show up 3 or 4 hours later. He liked -cold- triple anchovies pizza. I asked one time why it took him so long to come and he told me he liked it cold. So the next time he ordered I said "Hey man. I can stick this in the fridge for you and you could come get it in like 30 or 45, instead of 3 or 4 hours" he was SOO happy. tipped me a $20, and all I did was stick it in the fridge. After that, we just stuck his pizza in the fridge for him.
"Great story bro" right? well the point is that he wanted that really weird pizza that you or I wouldn't eat even if we were paid. it was an option though and made that guy really happy. Having 90 pages of Power armor might not be needed for you, but it might give 89 other people the power armor that they LOVE!
And.. well.... not for nothing, but if you've only ever used one robot, and two power armors ever in rifts... these books likely aren't written for you. So catering to your wants would be pretty silly.
