Tekko 2014 Day 1 report

Unread post by calto40k »

Due to massive amounts of voice actor panels the rpg room was rather unsuccessful... But I have made contact with a group called circleofswords.com who want some palladium presence at their cons.

Day 2 was better, but we only had 1 game with 4 people for robotech at the con... so instead of crying like a child I went and started handing out copies of rifter 63 and the Propaganda prints out to people as well as giving some magazines and prints to be added to the prizes for the LARP/Dice rolling Tekko Games

Also since I ended up having to leave early this morning I was able to get a group together to run some BtS 2nd at my motel room last night, and the crew that played it got excited hearing that there is a book on magic slated to be published for it sooner or later.

I will say this I do not plan on doing another 802 mile round trip con by car again lol

Who wants to sponsor a MA Private helicopter for con transports.... Huh? Any takers?

Can you give us a general idea of the size of the con and also tell us about how many people you probably talked to about Palladium? Just curious to get a perspective.

I was talking to him last night.

Apparently this con pulls in 2-4000 people every year. That is almost 10x the con I was at and he managed to get one player more than I did at Phantasm. Also from our conversation apparently the others tables (all non Palladium) were pretty full all day.

I am glad he got an after hours game going though and he is lucky to have as much swag and such to give away so hopefully that will maybe get people interested.

I just feel bad that he drove 400 miles each way for this.

Keep up the good fight regardless calto40k :ok:

That is definitely a serious commitment. Not easy to put in that much work for limited reward and hardly any players. I hope they are appreciate of what he is doing for them. Can't be easy for him.

Calto was in my Roll.20 game on sunday; I got the thumbnail report. He also didn't do too bad of a job staying in character either :ok:
*shakes head*
Palladium Players are a dying breed, but there are some of us that refuse to let the game lines go into that long good-night without a fight.
Spoiler:
Only reason I DON'T represent at any of the T.O. cons is well... something completely un-related to PBooks OR myself personally; has to do with an incident regarding my fiance and the con-com of three of the big name Cons. (yeah; the conventions are so insular in Toronto that the Con-Coms are the exact same people for most of 'em). Long story short, they screwed her over professionally so badly, the incident is so notorious that publishing and film agents for guests of honour have heard of it.

Yeah; the con-com screwed up THAT badly. :demon:

As it is, I keep showing up to THE ONE STORE IN ALL OF DOWNTOWN TORONTO that carries PBooks to make sure that they know at least ONE person is still interested. It's a spit-drop in the ocean, but at least I try and keep the faith. Kudos to Calto though; he went over & above the call of duty. :D

You are more than welcome to come up to Peterborough for Phantasm. Worst case we hang out for a day :D

Feel free to send them my contact information.

As the Coordinator that Calto40k in touch with this Con, I wanted to thank you Calto for doing this, especially when 3 others said yes but then vanished quicker than a sailboat in the Bermuda Triangle.

The Head of the RPG Dept for Tekko Con had actually reached out to me/Megaversal Ambassador's requesting a Palladium MA to run Robotech RPG [pen and paper, not Tactics]. One of his friends had been perusing the forums here and heard about the MA program and wanted to get some Palladium representation there. This was the Con's first time at having Palladium there. Hopefully, not the last.

Calto, I hope you at least had fun.

+100 honor to Calto. :bandit:

I appreciate that you support us all (palladium fans) by doing what you do. Sometimes you just have to pick up and soldier on.

I also want to echo NMI thanks for this- I also saw the original email from the head of the RPG department, and I had high hopes for this Con... will definitely raise it with PB staff....
