The World needs (mine does): A Dead Reign Hardcover

Unread post by Hendrik »

Hey there,

I was just leafing through my BtS-II hardcover limited edition. Aside from wanting Arcanum (!) and Tome Grotesque really, really hard - as in PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY ;-) - I just thought what the world really needs is a Dead Reign hardcover. It is a wonderful game and a great supplement (series) for BtS :-)

I would throw in the Rifter article from issue 40.

In any case, I would love a DR limited ed. HC, perhaps in dark brown leather...

Just saying. Please.

Kind regards
Hendrik

Sounds cool. And an actual new product that doesn't already exist like the Anniversary Editions they are putting out. I'd buy at least 1.

It's a good idea. But how would that make it an actual new product? Saying that would be a stretch even with stuff from Rifter added.

Because we have never had a Dead Reign Hard Cover. I didn't mean fresh material (meat).

I like the idea. I don't know if I would get one myself but the idea is good for those who want one.

Leatherbound and Scarred like Necronomicon. That may be better for BTS but I'd buy either.

I would LOVE another BtS hardcover and would, of course, buy it right away. I like the "old tome" idea very much.

Here's my speculation:

At the moment I do not believe that there is real room for a new BtS hardcover. The rules are at the latest megaversial level - not that that is so important for a special edition - but what is missing to stoke new interest in BtS is not a HC but Arcanum or other tangible support of the line.

Now, I have no doubt that new books will come for BtS, but we are not there just yet. Sadly. Obviously. Arcanum, TG, and other sourcebooks are so much more advisable to do because Dark Reign is bound to create cross interest in a less "restricted" (or, you may re-phrase: dedicated) horror setting than Dead Reign.

A Dark Reign hardcover would be great and, I think, economically more than merely viable. People like hardcover editions (I do  ). Contrary to other lines, Dead Reign has not graced with a hardcover yet, and I am pretty sure that overall sales numbers would support such an edition - I mean, Dark Reign sells obviously well enough to justify several sourcebooks.

Anyway. It would be beautiful.

I like and support Hendrik´s idea (for DR and for BTS) but the number 1 book in need of a new cover is SPLICERS RPG by far!. Actually the current one is hurting the sales of the book (IMHO).

P.S.: And guess who must be the one to do the new SPLICERS cover? _H_C_ _A_T_N.

Agreed. I would love to see a splicers Ultimate editionor something to that effect. It would be cool to see something like that done next year.

There are some in the office now and at least two in production in the hands of freelancers.

just sayin that it would make sense to actually give that book any support before giving it a special edition.

I am pretty sure that Splicers will see some sourcebooks soon (in the foreseable future). Chuck has been clamouring for it relentlessly ;-) and Brandon has so much love for it, too. It is a great game and the setting needs and deserves fleshing out. My guess is that Kevin will publish a 64+ page sourcebook first to test the waters. The last update reads like that as well.
