Looks good. My name is kinda in the list of 50 Gladiators. Antoine "Ripper" Leroj. I wouldn't mind changing that 1st name.

Looks good. Chuck is probably working on completing some of the armors still, so that might not be final art.

I like the non environmental armor options in the preview. Nice to have something between full out combat load out which is a bit antisocial for town usage and walking around praying somebody does not nick you with a vibro pen knife.
The hoverbike armor stuff would be fine for most couriers you should be going fast enough on hoverbikes that not many hits should be landing on the pilot.

Re: NG 2 Sneak Preview up on Drive thru
Okay that NG aurora blazer is a pretty sexy power armor. I love the terrain hopper style armor and this is a really nice hopper style PA.
Re: NG 2 Sneak Preview up on Drive thru
I like Universal Energy Link though I'd have included rules for adding a capacitor to the system for powering weapons inflict more then 1D6x10 and rail guns with a limited number of rechargable shots.

Re: NG 2 Sneak Preview up on Drive thru
It is a nice system though for use with nearly all hand held human/borg sized weapons where you can just hook them up and run off suit power. Great for having some versatility in weapons or easy replacement of combat losses.
Their default weapon is pretty nice though the 4 barreled plasma part has a really nice base damage of 24 being the least damage you can do with it on a hit with the full blast. I am pretty sure I would take that over a gun that did 1d6x10 damage. Smidge lower on the top end but much more overall consistent damage.

I'm talking about the system itself, that gun is nice.

Re: NG 2 Sneak Preview up on Drive thru
Yup I really do like the system and given it looks like it has adaptors or can be adapted to darn near any weapon you are likely to bump into pretty much anywhere on rifts earth makes this thing an awesome exploration PA. Fast agile reasonably armor good land, sea and some flight capabilities really solid little workhorse armor here.

Well 'drivethrough' is utterly useless.
three times on 3 sepperate occasions I've tried D/L'ing the preview.
No dice. Blank screen and/or garbage code.
*shrug*
ANNNNNND of course the second book is delayed (not suprsing). HOWEVER no moral outrage; I don't THINK this one was crowdsourced ahead of time.

Yeah this one was crowdsourced a few weeks after NG1 was. It's extremely late.
As for Drivethru, it works just fine for me. I've bought over 100RPGs from them. Sadly the problem is likely on your end.

The link works for me as well. A suggestion to PB. Can you please make the cover art images the same size as the one in the preview? The covers look so much better in a expanded image.

Re: NG 2 Sneak Preview up on Drive thru
Looking at the other power armor picture I guess I am still not seeing it looking that female other than maybe how it has one leg positioned. As for top heavy I am guessing those big blade things extend as wings when in flight so not seeing how it is that much more top heavy than something like the smiling jack samas that also has the longer wings.
When I think top heavy I think of power armor like the glitterboy killer that looks like it wants to fall over really badly or the juicer killer armor.

NG2 preview looks good on a really quick skim. I like a lot of the Power Armor names.
As an NG1 and NG2 insider it looks like I have yet to become a character in the first book or what's in the preview of the second. Here's to hoping I designed a cool Power Armor.

I was having the same issue with downloading. It was probably due to server overloading. Today it worked fine.
My only gripe is that even though I placed an alternate name in The book, contacted Alex before the sneak peek to verify it was going to be correct (NG1 wasn't). It still wasn't correct. Just sent another PM to Alex regarding this.

Just downloaded it now and was absolutely stoked to see my name as one of the top 50 robo-gladiators! Proper made my day/week/month/year! I LOVE gladiators and to be named a robo-gladiator in this book is freaking awesome!
Rest of the book looks good too. I like the fact that theyve gone into alot of detail on the robodome as its the biggest attraction for me to actually adventure in Ishpemming.

I'm really liking the background for the arenas. It was pretty much exactly what I was currently using there in my game. I think I was using MDC forcefields, but MDC glass makes sense as well.

I liked the anti-missile laser curtain concept; it's actually gonna factor GREATLY with the next plot hook I have brewing.
I was gonna actually have a mesh net of 'Det-cord' for anti missle defenses but *shrug* the canon answer works even better.
Only thing I can't stand is the artwork used for the gladiators / robodome; what the hey?!
Looks like "alternative comicbook" artwork that I'd find in an underground hipster comic store.
Not that I'm knocking that particular style in its own context, but for Rifts (and a tech-heavy setting context at that) it looks... BAD, is the only word I can use.

Re: NG 2 Sneak Preview up on Drive thru
I was kinda surprised at the level of weaponry allowed but it does make some sense. Given we know they have some pretty good durability MDC glass as shown by some of the new robot vehicles in NG-1 and a good anti missile active system would keep the crowd safe enough. If a window ever went to critical damage level I would assume a "time out" would get called to give the maintenance bots a couple mins to swap out the damage.
It also makes sense how they can use real combat robots and not some gimped version seeing the steep discounts the NG gives to gladiators and that labor costs for repairs to mechs are free. Even losers would likely be able to recover from battle damage from the losers purse even without crazy amounts of sponsors.

Really we have only seen a few pages of the robodome stuff so hard to say if there will be franken mecha rules or not although with the sourcebook one robot creation stuff as a template pretty easy to use that to make one shot mechs.

Re: NG 2 Sneak Preview up on Drive thru
i find it interesting that palladium's solution for protecting crowds in the robodome is similar to the Steiner Stadium in battletech's Solaris 7. armored, mirrored glass to protect the crowd from lasers. of course Steiner Stadium adds a detonator grid (superconductive magnetic field generating armored wire mesh that prematurely detonates autocannon shells and missile warheads, and siphons off energy from particle cannon beams before they hit the windows). the steiner stadium also has walls and pillars that can emerge from the floor to create cover and concealment.. one of the more popular modes is "chaos" where the walls and pillars emerge to random heights at random times, while the interior lights strobe as well.. makes for a major spectacle for the viewers, and is fairly tricky for the mech pilots.. which makes up for the lack of a complex arena design. (compared ot the massive tunnel/cave network of Kurita's Ishiyama stadium, the sensor confusing defunct factory maze of the Marik Arena, the massive cultivated Jungle of the Liao arena, or the customizable holographic battlefield of the Davion Arena..)

They mention frankenmecha tpye bots in the book. Bots made of parts of other bots and of all different make and model of parts. I'd have to look at the rules in the Robotech book. I forget which one has it, but they already have printed rules for it.

Re: NG 2 Sneak Preview up on Drive thru
It probably doesn't deserve its own topic but there is something missing from the latest murmur...
What isn't explicitly laid out in numbers is that the 2x material originally planned will take (if out by the two year anniversary of July 2014) 12x the original time at worst (using the September 2012 date listed below) or at best almost 5x the original lead time (adding in the 1-3 month delay buffer mentioned to the September 2012 date). YMMV but that isn't a good trade off in my opinion.
http://palladiumbooks.com/index.php?view=article&catid=53:product-features&id=613:megaverser-insider-northern-gun-two&format=pdf
The end result is a book that is the equivalent of 300 pages squeezed into 256 pages. That’s 600 manuscript pages and literally twice the material originally planned for NG-2.

YMMV but that isn't a good trade off in my opinion.

Congratulations, Palladium Books. You just threw away a customer of 28 years because of how you handled Robotech Tactics.

Re: NG 2 Sneak Preview up on Drive thru
not sure about all that but it sounds like it could have been a Northern Gun 3 and we'd have already had 2. I guess the whole Insider thing made that not an option.

Re: NG 2 Sneak Preview up on Drive thru
I don't have a dog in that fight beyond keeping track of what happens in the NG crowdfunding to better gauge what will happen in Robotech. In any case, back when I was a "buy everything" Rifts customer years ago, I absolutely would have preferred the two NG books on time and then the extras added into a third rather than two massively delayed books. It also doesn't help Palladium in either the short term (they don't have books to sell on the website or in stores) or in the long term (due to damage to their rep with a continuing pattern of massive delays).

At this point may as well throw it all in since it is so late anyway but probably the better call would have been to put out NG2 at the original page size count and then plop out an NG3 if not right away then at a later time.
Should make for an awesome book but feature creep is something that can really throw production cycles into a tizzy.
