Looks like you have a pretty concrete by the book answer. I like that the spell casters have to be careful and use their spells wisely so they don't harm themselves for their allies. This helps keep the balance. But, I could see other exceptions or giving the caster a bonus to save or reduced damage...

Maybe the flame is actually a much smaller part of the stated area, but the area is what will take damage? Or, you just decide that is how it works. So many powers/abilities/spells etc. break down and don't fully make sense if you look at them too closely.

I'm not comfortable sleeping in anything more than boxers. No way I could survive more that a couple days sleeping in any type of armor. Even the toughest person who can learn to sleep in uncomfortable places will eventually start suffering from sleeping in armor.

From the Rifts line I think Wormwood might be my favorite. But, I would prefer to separate it from Rifts entirely. So, for actual use with Rifts I would have to go with Atlantis. There is just a ton of very cool stuff in it for players and GMs.
